Meet Your Mentor
I've always been a teacher at heart, even before I knew I wanted to pursue a career in education. Teaching and learning fuel me and make me feel alive! I retired from the classroom to pursue a dream of inspiring and supporting other educators, including those who homeschool. From that desire, Seasoned Scholar Mentors grew.
Background
I have spent more than 30 years in the field, and I continue to feel deeply passionate about teaching and learning. My classroom experience began as a teacher's assistant in a Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing program. From there, I became a respected classroom educator, Reading Specialist, and mentor for student teachers and colleagues. I bring a unique perspective to education and am eager to continue supporting the field as a mentor, tutor, and consultant.
Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to continuous professional development, including self-development in diversity, inclusivity, and equity. I actively seek out opportunities to learn and develop pedagogical strategies that promote meaningful, positive change in our world. My efforts helped me co-create a classroom environment that is representative of the unique individuals within it. Together with my students, we used technology to stretch beyond our classroom walls to connect with other classrooms and cultures, create content for families and other stakeholders, and inspire others.
